While Brad Pitt is best known as a Hollywood icon, he's also a family man, and one of three siblings who grew up in Missouri under the guidance of their late mother, Jane Pitt.

While those who knew her continue to mourn the loss, Jane's legacy lives on through the values she instilled in her family. Here's a closer look at the two little-known Pitt siblings, whose lives away from the spotlight reveal purpose and compassion.

Doug Pitt

Doug Pitt may not be a Hollywood icon like his older brother, but he's carved out a legacy of his own built on service, entrepreneurship, and a deep-rooted commitment to his community.

A businessman, philanthropist, and investor, Doug has long balanced global outreach with hometown devotion, choosing to remain in Missouri and channeling his efforts into causes close to his heart.

In 2008, Doug founded Care to Learn, a nonprofit dedicated to addressing urgent health, hunger, and hygiene needs among children. The idea took shape after a Springfield Chamber of Commerce meeting where stories of local poverty struck a chord.

Accounts of kids sharing a single toothbrush or showing up to school hungry haunted him. Days later, sitting at a red light, Doug couldn't shake those stories and decided something had to change. He said:

"There's always that pessimist in the crowd who says, 'You're just enabling these deadbeat parents.' My original response was, 'So what?' The kid didn't ask to be there, and he sure as heck doesn't deserve to be there."

Driven by that conviction, he ran the nonprofit like a business — cutting through bureaucracy to meet kids' needs fast.

Since its launch, Care to Learn has supported over 3 million service requests, expanded to more than 46 chapters across Missouri, and now serves over 135,000 children.

Doug's humanitarian reach extends beyond state lines, too. As a board member of WorldServe International and a longtime Goodwill Ambassador for Tanzania, he has overseen clean water projects in East Africa.

Alongside his philanthropic work, Doug occasionally leaned into the public's curiosity about him — once even starring in a tongue-in-cheek advertisement that playfully contrasted his down-to-earth life with his brother's Hollywood fame.

But while the spotlight never beckoned Doug, his life has been far from ordinary. He's a proud father of three, a husband to his wife Lisa Pitt, and an involved Springfield native who still lives just a few miles from where he grew up.

While Doug's ventures have taken him across the globe, he chose to raise his children in the same Southwest Missouri community that shaped him. In 2017, he returned to his childhood home and reflected on what it meant to grow up there:

"I think the greatest compliment I can give it is that I chose to raise my kids here. I had the luxury of being able to do that anywhere in the world, and I chose Springfield."

Doug's memories of the house weren't grandiose; they were grounded in everyday moments — lying on the floor listening to The Beatles, visiting the shed in the backyard, or admiring a tree Brad had brought home in fifth grade that their father planted.

With most of his and Lisa's extended families still living nearby, Doug finds joy in staying rooted.

He bikes the same neighborhood streets, visits familiar spots, and raises his kids in a place rich with memory. "I'm sentimental to it," he said. "It was an amazing, amazing part of my childhood."

Julie Neal

While Brad's brother has made a name for himself in business and humanitarian work, the Hollywood star's sister, Julie Neal, has led a more private life — one centered on faith, family, and compassion.

According to her Instagram bio, Julie identifies as a "Lover of Jesus," as well as a mother and wife. She's married to Rob Neal, and together they've built a life rooted in love and purpose.

In late February 2024, Julie marked their anniversary with a heartfelt message on social media that read, "Happy 34th Anniversary, my love. God has blessed us with amazing kids, many adventures, and a marriage made in Heaven! Love you [sic]!"

Julie and Rob are parents to five children, and their journey to becoming a family of seven included adoption. Reflecting on that decision, Julie revealed:

"Honestly, I lived in a bubble here in our town with my three older kids. I really didn't think about much beyond here, and God just called my family to adopt. We have the space, the love... all of our kids were on board."

Following prayerful consideration, they felt a strong calling to adopt from Ethiopia. Then, after welcoming their fourth child, the decision to adopt again came quickly.

Soon, what began as a leap of faith grew into a lasting bond with the country itself. "I just fell in love with the country, with the people. Seriously, they are the most happy people, and by our standards, they have nothing," Julie shared.

However, the family's connection to Ethiopia didn't end with adoption. Julie and Rob also helped bring clean water to the region from which they adopted, a gesture that reflected the family's deep gratitude and desire to give back.

Philanthropy, it seems, is in the Pitt family's DNA. Back in 2009, Brad, Doug, and Julie — along with their spouses — donated $1 million to help open a new pediatric cancer center in their hometown of Springfield, Missouri.

The facility, named the Jane Pitt Pediatric Cancer Center in honor of their late mother's dedication to children's causes, became the only center in the region with a pediatric oncologist and hematologist.

Though Brad Pitt remains the most visible member of the Pitt family, Doug and Julie have quietly built lives defined by purpose, compassion, and a deep connection to their roots.

Their stories—and the rare photos that capture them — offer a fuller picture of the family behind the fame.
