The Moment Police Stop and Search Leonardo DiCaprio — Without Realizing Who He Is

Under the dim glow of Ibiza's nightlife, Leonardo DiCaprio found himself in an unusual position when he waited quietly as Spanish police carried out routine checks. The police were seemingly unaware they were standing beside one of Hollywood's most recognizable actors.

Leonardo DiCaprio was briefly held up by Spanish police in Ibiza for a search outside a star-studded tequila event, with officers initially unaware they were dealing with a world-famous actor.

An online clip captured the 50-year-old actor positioned next to a Guardia Civil officer during what appeared to be a roadside inspection.

Wearing an all-black outfit, a baseball cap, a chain necklace, and no face covering, DiCaprio waited calmly as the officer faced away from him. In the background, a woman could be heard saying, "They are searching me full-on right now."

The search occurred as DiCaprio and his companions approached the private villa gathering organized by Patron and Spanish entertainer Aron Piper, where all attendees underwent pat-downs and ID checks before being allowed inside.

According to a source, DiCaprio was treated the same as other attendees, with officers unaware of his identity. However, when they realized who he was, they did a double-take and granted him entry into the villa.

The party drew a celebrity-heavy guest list. Kendall Jenner and DiCaprio's longtime friend Tobey Maguire were spotted at the venue, while rapper Travis Scott was denied entry. DiCaprio's time in Ibiza seemed to be one stop on a wider journey through the Mediterranean.

A TikTok video from Formentera showed the actor walking behind Jeff Bezos and a woman in a white sun hat and burgundy bikini top as they made their way along a pier, with turquoise waters and weathered waterfront buildings in the background.

Another video on TikTok showed a vibrant Ibiza nightclub filled with flashing red and purple lights, where guests danced and filmed the scene as DiCaprio, Naomi Campbell, Jeff Bezos, and Central Cee were among those in attendance.

A TikToker also said DiCaprio was staying at the same hotel as them and posted a video of the sighting. The footage showed him at what appears to be a rooftop or terrace venue in Ibiza, with an ocean view. The actor was dressed in a blue quilted jacket over a white shirt, light blue jeans, a flat cap, and sunglasses.

The trip took place during DiCaprio's ongoing relationship with Italian model Vittoria Ceretti, whom he met in Milan. In April 2025, she discussed her experiences and the public scrutiny that can come with dating a well-known figure during an interview with Vogue France.

She noted that being with a partner who is more widely known can lead to being defined by that association, which may overshadow one's own identity and shift attention away from the authenticity of the relationship.

DiCaprio is no stranger to Ibiza, having spent time on the island several times over the years. Earlier in the month, he and Ceretti were spotted boarding Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez's mega yacht during their stay.

The couple was also present at Bezos and Sánchez's wedding in Venice in June, during which Ceretti experienced a wardrobe malfunction with her vintage Dolce & Gabbana dress. DiCaprio and Ceretti have been publicly linked since the summer of 2023.

Despite the brief case of mistaken identity, DiCaprio appeared unfazed. For an actor accustomed to global recognition, the moment served as a rare reminder that even one of the world's most famous faces can sometimes blend into the crowd — at least until the double take.
